I used this plugged in to my eeepc and a Behringer Euro-rack 4 channel to record the dialog for a movie my friends are shooting in HD on a digital SLR. The thing is so little hassle it scares me. The computer detects it instantly and Audacity automatically sets itself up to use it as the input. The noise floor is very low; if you’re using a condenser shotgun mic, I assure the microphone and the mixer you plug it in to will both create a higher noise floor than this interface, so it’s really not an issue. The monitoring function is fantastic. I assure you that you won’t notice the difference between 16 and 24 bit if you’re just recording movie sound. What you will notice is how you just got away with using the table top mixer and laptop you already own to save yourself from spending [...] bucks on an SD recorder. That’s pretty sweet. If you need XLR inputs, hook it to an external mixer. For some reason it’s hard to find battery powered mic preamps. That’s silly. I’ll get to work

This is a cry for help that must precede my review, which I’m thinking is going to be favorable after I get over this initial obstacle. I’m not technologically hip (Hence the large collection of LPs and analog turntable). Can someone help this technosaur out? I originally ordered the UCA202 thinking it had the phono-preamp. Now I think I have all I need to record my LPs to the PC via the UFO202.

UFO202 installation and operation are as simple as advertised. However, I can’t figure out the correct configuration of Audacity and my PC (HP G60). Audio from LPs playing on my analog Denon DP-62L sounds great in the headset jack. Audacity though, only records and then plays back on the right channel. There is no discernable signal in the left channel. I believe I have the latest Behringer drivers downloaded. I’ve tried configuring each of the PC’s USB ports, uninstalling, then reinstalling the Behringer driver and restarting the PC. I’ve looked at tons of “How-to” articles and help for recording LPs on PCs, but haven’t found any procedure that triggers Audacity to record and play back the left channel. I have Audacity v1.3.12-beta(Unicode), set to Stereo, 44100Hz, 16-bit PCM.

    My input choices are:
MME: Line In (Behringer USB WDM AUDI
Windows DirectSound: Line In (Behringer USB WDM AUDIO 2.8.17
(I ensured each was set to 2 Channel Stereo when selected)

I reckon what baffles me is I can hear the record just fine in the UFO202 head phone jack, so I figure I shouldn’t be too far aware from getting the left channel to record. All other sounds work through the PC’s left/right speakers. I’m thinking I’m overlooking something woefully simple.

Can anyone calibrate me? I appreciate you taking the time.

    Thanks.

I taped many hours onto cassettes in the 1970s and hoped one day to digitize them, and now can. This audio interface is easy to use and the quality of the MP3s is good. I also had occasion to use it to record several lectures directly to my laptop and the quality was great. I’m not an audiofile and have no experience converting audio data so I can’t speak to the finer points, but this definitely gets the job done “plug and play”.

Recieved ahead of promised date and works exactly as expected. Setup was simple for Win7 notebook. All features worked as described on line before purchase. No problems, good quality.

The Behringer UFO202 is an easy and very affordable way to convert your cassettes and vinyl albums to CD/wav/mp3 format. Simply connect the output jacks of your turn table or cassette deck to the UFO202 and then connect the UFO202 to your pc and you are on your way to converting your music. You can convert one song, several songs or an entire album or cassette. The only learning curve is learning the editing process of the audacity software which is the back bone of the UFO202. The software is easy to use and I’ve attached a link for the audacity online manual.

    I highly recommend this product.

i dj often and broke the older silver version of these headphones when wearing them over a stormtrooper helmet while djing. these new replacement ones work great. decent quality and good enough sound reduction and for the price you cant really beat it.

  6. Iglesias Says:

I bought these headphones during the Amazon Gold Box Deal when they were 10.99. I’ve been using them for a couple of days and I have to say these headphones are great, especially for 10.99. I think the normal price is 17.99 which is an exceptional price for these. They’re not the best headphones around but those can cost 5-20x more. If you’re looking for a reasonable price set then these are the ones to get

  7. Hebert Says:

I wonder how many people got these and didn’t realize that the 1/4″ headphone jack can be unscrewed to a reveal a 3.5MM for use on any MP3 player… at least one of the negative reviewers made that complaint. Anyway, these are excellent phones. Very comfortable, swivel ear pieces, padded, able to wear while wearing eyeglasses without loss of sound or comfort. I’ve gotten much more expensive headphones in the past that weren’t as comfortable or with equal quality sound.

  8. Larner Says:

These were nice until the left side speaker blew while listening to meditation music…go figure right? They were a gift but the lasted less than a year and I was more than careful with it as far as I am concerned. But I can’t even pretend to not here the rattle of the broken speaker. So I’m stuck using my ear buds until I get some new ones. I won’t buy these again.

This thing is amazing. If you are running multiple audio sources or need
a front for a DAW, this is it. Built solid, great onboard fx, warm mic pre’s …
What else do you need. It is small enough to sit on a slideout usually used for your mouse and keyboards. I love functional well made audio gear and this is it!

The fact that is has no power button still kinda blows my mind. Imagine if your car came with no ignition and you had to connect the battery when you wanted to drive it and disconnect it to park.

I really prefer dedicated auxiliary sends, not cd/tape RCA workarounds.

That said the audio quality for $100 is jaw dropping. It produces substantially less noise than my older but feature rich mixer. The manual stated it has “first class” effects, which I took for just some PR buzz words but I have to admit they are really good. It fools the ears and really creates a dynamic space, relative to what the reality is, which is acoustically challenging to say the least. You just need a touch of gate and compression to control it. The 3 band EQ (my old mixer had 2) is icing on the cake. And it stays relatively cool. You could fry an egg on my old mixer after a couple hours of work.

So ok I’ll shut up about the lack of features since I’d likely have to put down close to another $100 to get everything I’m used to and I’m on a really tight budget. I’ll take those short comings for the sound quality. And it’s small. It takes up substantially less real estate, always a plus on my desktop.

  11. Duncan Says:

Awesome, especially for the price. I’m using this to mic a drumset, and then plug my mp3 player into the mixer…get it all dialed in and it’s a fantastic and fun way to practice if you like playing to music. You can really hear yourself well. And, without listening to music, select one of the many reverb settings and it completely changes the complexion of your sound, and turns jamming/soloing into a new experience. Worth every dollar in my opinion. And I haven’t even explored the potential for recording and live playing with this thing…

  12. Hayashi Says:

If you don’t have it, you just don’t know how bad you need it. This little device is the giant step for home studio musicians who aren’t ready (or have no need) to invest a bundle in sound equipment. The 1202FX turned my 50-watt Peavey Basic bass amp into a mini-PA system. It gives you solid mic quality as well as precise guitar sound and will allow you to mix in just about anything (a drum machine, in my case) without losing any sound fidelity. On the beginner level, plugging more than two or more of anything into an amp will cost you at least 25% of your sound quality. The Behringer will astound you with the clarity and mixing ability that you can get out of even a 50-watt bass amp. The only downside is the so-called F/X, they’re almost non-distinguishable, but with what this baby produces on the front end, you won’t shed a tear. For about $150, it’s the best investment you’ll make before looking at serious long-term purchases.

  13. Judson Says:

I have had the Behringer XENYX 802 for about 6 months now, and it has done everything that I’ve wanted. I mainly use it to record guitar, but I’ve used it for various other things as well. I hook it up to my laptop via a Behringer UCA 202, and it works perfectly.
The only problem I had with it was when I first got it, it kept freezing and blasting a loud buzzing sound. The reason why it did this was because the power wasn’t plugged into the back of it all the way, once I figured that out it never did it again.
Very good product, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to start a “mini-recording studio”.

  14. Eads Says:

I like it, I’d take it everywhere I go. The cool thing about this mixer is it has phantom power built in, small enough to store or place any where. I like it a lot.
