Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3CZ5OA1A17PIF For my Studio 54 disco party I’m going all out! Bought this light tripod for my disco ball and my American DJ LED Vertigo Disco Light. I haven’t received the Vertigo light yet so this video is just of the disco ball! It wasn’t easy to put together! Once I realized the top most pole had sunk down into the device it got easier. I pulled it out I was able to get the thing together with the instructions I found online. There is a PDF on the american dj.com website. Search by model. Cheers!

I used this stand for my wedding reception/house party a couple weeks ago. I had the following items hanging on the rack –
    1 Chauvet Mini-Line Dancer
    1 Eliminator Lighting Roto-Saucer
    1 American DJ Light Saver
    1 Chauvet Par 36 Spotlight

I mounted the two moving light units at the far ends of the crossbar and used the inner mounts for the light saver and the spotlight. This did seem to be a lot of weight, but there was no problem with the stand itself. I just felt like it was ‘top heavy’ and liable to fall over. So I set it up behind a chest of drawers as a “just in case” measure.

The mounting was adequate, though it’s an area upon which American DJ can probably make some improvement. I found it difficult to completely tighten the wingnut as it was located ‘inside’ the mounting bracket of whatever device I was attaching. Additionally, the locations of the mounting bolts are not really flexible – you have the holes that are pre-drilled, and that’s it.

But, overall, I was able to make this work for my intended use. To back up another reviewers comment, it probably isn’t something I would trust to setup and tear down multiple times per week for several years. But it met my needs.

This is a good deal for the price, but I wouldn’t expect it to last a long time in a hard production environment, or when used in a location shoot. I use this stand to support a homemade soft keylight that only weighs about 10 lbs and equally distributes it’s weight over the cross bar. I would feel mighty uncomfortable using this stand to support heavier lights without being very, very careful to evenly distribute the weight due to the lack of angle supports for the crossbar. Still, in a controlled studio environment it should be fine.

I needed some tripods for this little event out in the desert. The winds were pretty strong and it kept my speakers steady. It has a locking system that keeps your speakers at many levels. And a added piece for speakers with a larger hole size. This product does what is suppose to do. Highly recommend.

These stands are light weight and easy to open and take down. They put the music at any level you want them.

  5. Iribe Says:

This is a good stand, and it really is tall! The clamps are plastic, but everything else is metal. The picture shows the stand at about 8 feet, it goes much taller so your lights are above the crowds heads (much better then blasting a laser show into someones eyes). If you want a decent stand, this one should make you happy.

I gave it four stars because I’m very anal and like to reserve five star ratings for mind blowing products. This is a good product, but it should be for the price you have to pay for it.

And if you plan to have this next to your dance floor where people can bump the stand, you should get a safety cable. You don’t want all your lights falling over on your friends head.

I am not sure if I got sent the wrong extension tube but it was 1 1/2″ and it needed a 1 1/4″ tube. So I had to go to Home Depot to buy a new extension tube and then it worked great. It does seem kind of cheaply made..but I suppose it doesn’t need to withstand too much. I like it now that I have the new tube.

  7. Munar Says:

I purchased this light stand for my nephew’s DJ business and I helped him use it at one of his gigs. I was impressed with the height and the functionality of the four arms. We had three lights and a fog machine attached to the arms and it was an awesome addition to the existing equipment.
It is heavy duty and suitable for his business. Some minor drawbacks are the plastic collar fittings, as well as the braces that support the arms that tend to get in the way of the bolts that hold additional lights/accessories. It did not come with instructions and I had to look at the picture on Amazon to figure out how to put the support arms in the proper place. It is a little wobbly with a full load and must be on a level surface. Other than that, it is a heavy duty light stand that I fully recommend.

  9. Meisch Says:

Great item however, the height is only 5.5 inches. I was using it for a laptop over a 61 not keyboard for words to read while I’m sing and it was too low. The back should have an adjustable height or should come in different heights for various needs
