I really like my Mackie, use it as a recording mixer. No noise, versatile, rugged, great instruction book. Insert points on two channels, 5 different ways to do anything you want with the thing.

what equipment do i need to have for a rapping recording studio?
i started rapping just for fun and now want to get more serious and have a little in home studio. i know that it can be and will be expensive but im willing to spend a few grand over time. please, anyone help me out. i will like to stay in between 1000 dollars just to get started i currently have a dell inspiron 1520 laptop and will upgrade to a desktop within the next few months. But for now my laptop will do. I have a samson cou1 and have done a few low quality songs just for fun and im planning on upgrading to a MLX 4000 condenser mic or the Blue Bird condenser mic (with pop filter, cables, shockmount, stand, etc) that will cost me 225 dollars. if anyone thinks there is a better mic please let me know. i have bought a behringer UB1202 12 channel mixer for my mic and sound system for around 80 dollars nothing fancy but it was cheap Professional Recording studio Equipment Packages and thought it be a nice thing to have (tell me what you think about this mixer). i also have a Behringer UCA202 U-Control and will be using it as my sound card for now and bought it for 30 dollars if anyone knows of a good sound card please tell me so i can look into it. and for my headphones i have bought a NEW Behringer HPM1000 headphones for a great deal for only 10 dollars. i have bought Behringer equipment because of its great reviews and cheap prices but i know that you get what you pay for, but again im not trying to get famous or anything im doing it just to have fun but still be a little professional. i have no monitors since i have not researched monitors that much. i would really like the KRK’s but are expensive and not sure if they may be good for me or not, again please give me advice. so for rite now im just using a home theater sound system which i personally like but still people have built monitors for a reason so im guessing there a must have. i do not have acoustic foam since it really seems too over priced but for now i will be using some soft egg crate packaging foam i bought online for my mini vocal booth in my closet. thats about everything i have nothing top notch but i think im about half way there for my little studio. so heres my real question. what else do i need? my mixer has pre amps for my mic and headphones. i will just be using beats off the internet for personal use of course (but will look into beat making later on). i am thinking of using ProTools since it seems very popular. so what other hardware might i need? im not a professional and have alot to learn and im willing to learn so please no negative comments. sorry for the long paragraph but im just trying to figure everything out. thank you. please leave any type of answer that you think may help me.
