Super Effects Processor blogs and more!

When I bought this, I was disappointed. Playing it through the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe that I could not turn up past 2 (I only played at home – no gigs), it sounded weak. When I sold the HRD and got a Blues Jr. – which I can crank so that the pedal drives the tubes – this became my favorite OD/Distortion pedal (I also have TS9, TS10, DS-1, Ross Clone, Distortion +). So, for a solid state amp, or a loud amp that you can’t turn up much, this is not a great choice. But that’s not what it was meant for. It, like the Tube Screamer, was meant to push the tubes into overdrive, which it does beautifully.
The SD-1, like many other Boss pedals, sounds just fine out of the box, but sounds even better with a mod. I did a Monte Allums’ mod, and now I absolutely love it.
If I could only keep one of my OD pedals, it would be this one, and at $35 (plus $15 or so in parts if you mod it), it’s a steal.
I have a super nice pc, but it is slow for the games. It is a HP Pavillion 503n with 1.7ghz processor Super Effects Processor and 40 gb HHD and 128 MB DDR SDRAM..I will upgrade the memory next month to 512 or 1gb I hope.My question is this, everyone says upgrade the memory, but how does it effect the performance of the pc? I have more than enough storage space at 40gb so is the 128 operating memory or am off track?Laymans terms please. Thanks!
