It works great with Itunes music, and it loads music pretty quickly, but you cant mix without the headphones, otherwise EVERYBODY will hear what you’re trying to do…in that case it needs to have the headphone jack and it DOES NOT! it has a preview window but EVERYONE can hear what you re doing..in other words it lacks a very important part. I just dont understand why they wouldnt put one in….to get you to buy extra crap??? i dunno…so its a pretty good TOY for kids…not really if you want to get into the DJ biz. you have been warned…

Behringer xenyx 1204USB into a M-Audio Fast Track?
Alright I want to get pro tools which requires a m-audio interface. The Behringer xenyx 1204USB essentially has a built in interface because it can go directly to the Audio Mixer Pro computer via usb. So could i get a M-Audio Fast Track MKII USB Audio Interface and use RCA cable(White and Red Cables) to go from my mixer to the Fast Track then usb into the computer? After about 2-3 regular uses the wheels started to squeak, and about 2 weeks later the left wheel stopped responding and the music playing stops and skips during use. i wish i would have just bought a better made brand over this piece of junk.

Man let me tell you. This little gadget is Awesome! I Djayed 7 parties with this thing and people were amazed. Yeah it looks like a toy, but it works great! I recommend this for beginner Djs as well as some of the vets out there. I use it for practice and I use it for some gigs as I said earlier. One Word AWESOME!!!!

When I received the package it was all perfect sealed and all of that. First thing I did I installed the Mixvibes software it came with which was on a CD. Next I hooked up the Discover DJ controller to my computer’s usb, the wheels and other buttons works fine except the Scratch Button. The scratch button did not led up as it was suppose to, it did not function at all. So I’m returning it and getting a refund to get a better midi controller. Should you get Discover DJ? If you’re just going to scratch and mix and thats all you’re going to do with your music with a basic software then Yes. But, if you’re going to use it to practice and get to learn even more about DJing to get a little experience then maybe not, why? Because the Mixvibes software is basic and has no effects or sampling functions, just drag and play and mix of your choice. If Discover DJ was compatible with Virtual DJ that would BE GREAT, but currently no. Virtual DJ has many functions and is very easy and organized than Mixvibes. Virtual DJ allows you to activate effects like Flanger, Echo, etc.. And samplers like sirens and more. If the Mixvibes software it came with had these basic functions then this product would be worth all the trouble. Discover DJ has the kind of vinyl feeling on the wheels, the crossfader is smooth and so as the treble and bass and other volume leveling and other buttons as well, but the scratch button of my product did not work or function for me so I was disappointed. If you are thinking about a product that works with Virtual DJ, I believe the ION Audio icue is compatible with Virtual DJ, and other midi controllers like Hercules or Pioneer controllers. It’s your choice to buy this product, so don’t expect to get effects and samplers from this product’s software and its compatibility with other softwares.

although this is decent for someone who is getting into it. i don’t think its worth it because its just too boring. there is no jack to plug in your headphones so you can listen to the next song before you mix it in. this really turned me off. i returned this back and instead going to get a djm700k and 2 cdj400 for me to use as a beginner. because most clubs are more likely to carry the djm800 mixer and the 700 pro is just 1 year behind the 800. most clubs will require you to use their cdj’s and mixer rather than bringing your midi controller or bringing your own setup. so i decided to invest money on something that will last me for a LONG TIME rather than seeing myself waste money on upgrades.

make smart decisions if your on a low budget.

I’ve been using the X-Session Pro for a few months now, and I have to say, this is an awesome controller. It’s very portable and lightweight (if only I could say that about the rest of my setup!) and has a good response. It’s really easy to set up and it’s given me a ton of extra buttons, knobs, and faders, and is a great counterpart to my M-Audio O2 (now called “KeyRig 25″). Currently I use it for a fairly unconventional setup in Ableton Live, involving eleven separate tracks containing a multitude of full length songs, vocal samples (speeches and acapellas), loops, and one-shots. The X-Session is good, because it allows me to control the volumes for my four main channels, as well as effects on the rest. Overall I would have to say that this is one of the best products around, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Even better, the MAudio Digital DJ Mixlab System comes with a free version of Torq, which is useful for playing around with mix ideas quickly and easily.

Well, first off, I’d like to share just a short bit of hell that I went through to get this item, and NOT because of Amazon (they were excellent). I did my research for a good 2 weeks trying to find exactly what I needed for the software I’ve been using. Currently I’ve been spending every night after work enjoying my X-Session Pro with PropellerHead’s Reason 4.0. Anyways, after doing my research I knew exactly what I wanted and needed. I ended up going to 2 different guitar centers in Manhattan, one of which told me they didn’t even carry the item (even though I had the printed item from guitar center’s website in my bag). Anyways, after a long drawn out battle with Guitar Center, including an online order which after a week of not shipping, I had to call THEM, only to find out that GC no longer would carry the item.. absolutely stupid. Ok, I’m finished complaining, but I only wanted to share this because I finally just got onto Amazon, ordered my X-Session Pro, and BEFORE Guitar Center had even removed the charge from my credit card, my X-Session was waiting for me at my house…

So Cheers to Amazon and it’s excellent Vendors. (this was free standard shipping as well)

As for the Product. What I like? It’s VERY VERY light. I can easily take this anywhere I go. Although it’s a bit of an awkward shape..the knobs are kind of tall, over all, I’d consider it fairly portable. I would recommend, however, simply throwing in a shirt or some soft cloth material on top of it (that’s not going to get fuzzies in the controls) just for some extra padding.

The response is very smooth! I use this with Reason and find the delay time to be very minimal, especially for something that’s working with USB.

No power supply needed! This is one of my favorite features for at the home. It’s powered through the USB bus. HOWEVER – LAPTOP USERS beware! That means it will drain battery quicker of your laptop when in use, but I can’t imagine running any audio software / doing anything serious with this without being stationary / plugged in to your power supply.

Nice Variety of controls. I love my knobs..ohhhhh I love my knobs…I wish I could have 400, but I do like having 12 knobs and 4 faders or whatever. Another note is that the beauty of this USB device is simply being able to program the controls to your likings. For instance, you can program an oscilator to a fader… if that suits your style… so basically you can adjust tempo / levels with knobs or sliders… it’s kind of nice to have that kind of variety and freedom.

Overall, there really isn’t anything I don’t’ like about this so far. I don’t use the play/stop buttons, perhaps because Reason simply does not support them, but I’m not upset. The reason I bought this was to use the control nobs and sliders and it’s perfect for what I wanted.

I am for sure a novice at this stuff, but this is certainly an excellent edition to studio. I’d recommend it to anyone who already owns a keyboard with usb/midi support etc, and doesn’t want to pay a ton of money to build their own work station.

    :)

I baught purchased this mixer years ago from Guitar Center to record my band. It did a really good job. For the price and quality, it’s just good!

  10. Jamieson Says:

I have had the Behringer XENYX 802 for about 6 months now, and it has done everything that I’ve wanted. I mainly use it to record guitar, but I’ve used it for various other things as well. I hook it up to my laptop via a Behringer UCA 202, and it works perfectly.
The only problem I had with it was when I first got it, it kept freezing and blasting a loud buzzing sound. The reason why it did this was because the power wasn’t plugged into the back of it all the way, once I figured that out it never did it again.
Very good product, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to start a “mini-recording studio”.

  11. Barge Says:

I like it, I’d take it everywhere I go. The cool thing about this mixer is it has phantom power built in, small enough to store or place any where. I like it a lot.

  12. Aikin Says:

I’m looking forward to my future recordings using the 802 – It is always fun to have a new toy! Highly recommended piece of equipment that is nice value for the cost.I was looking for a low cost mixer to use with my other recorder and did a little research on the leading brands. Just looking at it with it’s inputs, number of controls, I would have guessed it cost close to a couple hundred bucks. Imagine my surprise when, after reading the positive reviews, that I discovered this thing was only ! I bought it immediately and, right out of the box, it did exactly everything I was expecting it to – this is a truly nice little piece of equipment for getting the recording control and flexibility that is not inherent on some of the other models.
