Does my band have enough equipment?
Here’s what we have:Mics for lead and backup vocals,Mics for all drums (Mapex Meridian drumset) with 2 overhead condensers,Mic for guitarist’s amp,Guitarist’s amp is a Mesa Boogie Mark Five half-stack,Bassist’s amp is a 2×10 Ampeg,20 Channel (16 xlr) Yamaha mixer,Effects processor,3 12″ Mackie Thump monitors,In-ear monitor for lead vocalist,2 15″ EV Tour X speakers,2 18″ EV Tour X SubsCables for everything,150 ft. 16 Channel snakeQuestion is: Does it sound like we have enough in our mains to push our sound. We aren’t playing in huge venues (yet), but Processor Xlr we do play outside some. We play rock music like Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, etc. We’re concerned that we need 2 more mains and 2 more subs, but don’t want to spend the money. I realize that small venues won’t require all of our equipment, but does this sound like enough for playing outside to around 500 people? What do you all think?Roman Peltier, I’m not sure you understand the question. The question is whether or not we have enough mains (2 15’s and 2 18 subs) to push our sound. When we play outside we just don’t seem to get that full sound like other bands we hear. I’ve seen bands play outside with 8 subs and even more mains for the highs. I’m just wondering if we can get that full sound with what we have. I never said we were playing huge venues. In fact, I said we weren’t. But we will be playing outside mostly for about 500 people, and I’m just not sure what we have is enough. I’m wondering if we need to get another set of subs and mains. And my knowledge of this should have no bearing on whether or not you think we are experienced enough to earn the gigs we get. I don’t run our sound nor pretend to understand everything about doing it.
