I have been using the ACID programs for several years. I started with ACID studio 2.0 and then 3.0. The things that were missing on those programs were the “Chopper” (which lets you easily take pieces of music and turn them into loops) and the ability to do work with midi. Those for a long time were the extras you got by buying Acid Pro. Acid Pro was a very expensive program IMO, you could expect to pay $200 to $300 for it. With Acid Music Studio 8 you now get all the major features of Pro including the chopper and midi for much less money. There must be a new Pro version coming soon, and it might have some big new features we have not seen in Acid before, but for my money this new Music Studio does everything the existing Pro version does for much less money.

home recording studio equipment/setup?
i am trying to setup a home recording studio and i need help figuring out what equipment and sofware i need. (producing beats and recording vocals using windows). ive been doin some reaserch, but im kind of confused. ok, can someone make a list of the basic things i need. so far i just have my lap top and a midi axiom Recording Studio Windows 49 keyboard. what software do i need to record my beats and my vocals? i heard fruity loops can do both, but i was wondering if cubase or any other softwar can also do that? the software is probably the most confusing part for me. other than that and a mic, what else would i need? and an estimate of how much it would seperatly cost me. im a rookie at this and gettin my feet wet in the producing biz for the first time. any music producers out their??, i NEED YOUR HELP. if you can be specific, id really appriciate it,,,, thanks for reading and i hope someone can help me. p.s. i went to 2 bestbuy stores and non of the employees were able to help me, they said they didnt really know much about it either.

Be warned, the drum patterns & kits included in this heaping pile of sh…oftware are the SAME as the ones already included in Music Creator 5.
If you are thinking of buying this to upgrade the drums – you are not going to be happy with this so called “product”.
I’ve purchased several Cakewalk products and I’ve been fairly happy with them, but this stinks. They are intentionally misleading people about the contents – ON THEIR OWN SITE. They completely misrepresent what is included in the drums.
The only reason I gave it two stars is that the bass and strings are pretty nice. They sound good & are quality plugins. The electric piano isn’t anything special. You can find as good (if not better), online for free.
I wouldn’t have spent my money on this garbage if I would have known what I know now.
    You’ve been warned.

The quality and price of this package can’t be beat, if you are building a virtual studio and have a low budget this is it.

I have this package working on FL Studio and Music Maker just fine, I’m really happy with Studio Instruments.

I you wanna see a demonstration of this product look for Cakewalk Studio Instruments on Youtube.

  3. Eggers Says:

Studio Instruments are a big improvement over the stock instruments in Garage Band. They sound very real and have a decent collection of preset patterns for quick song ideas. I wish there were more patterns to work with and the sounds could be changed: for example different types of basses, Rhodes and Wurlizer, different drum sets. For 50 bucks you can’t go wrong. Well worth the price.Apple iLife ‘06 (Mac DVD)

Your level of creativity is the only limit with this great value program.
I downloaded the FREE trial of this software from Sony Creative Software and mucked around with it for a whole month, to see if it would do the things I wanted. I am using Acid Music Studio 8.0 to create sound effects and soundtracks for my YouTube videos and my multi-media video artwork.
This program would suit the home musician or the musician just starting out with a limited budget who would like a professional program to record and mix their music.I warn anyone who is creative, that this software is Highly Addictive. You can spend many, many hours exploring all the inbuilt synthesizer preset programs and tweek them with an infinity of different settings contained within the Fx Effects chains.
You can also use the 3.5 Gigabytes of loops and samples that come with the “purchased copy” (not available with trial), to construct your own music in just a few clicks.
Please note something once you have downloaded the “loops & samples”:
In the explorer view tab of Acid Music Studio, make sure you click the View button and tick all options – especially tick “Show All Files”, otherwise you may freak out and think that you can’t access the loops and samples.
This is a MIDI file based program, actually a very large part of the program. So if you want to make the most of using Acid Music Studio 8.0, then get a MIDI to USB connection so that you can connect a Synthesizer Keyboard to your computer. If you do this, you gain amazing control of the program and can control the inbuilt synth on your computer.
You will have to be patient in learning how to set things up, if working with connected instruments. There are a lot of little settings that have to be set just right for the sound & MIDI files to communicate in both directions. There is a fairly good Help file which will teach you how to do things, but as they say: Rome wasn’t built in one day!
This product really seems to have hit the mark this time with Version 8.0
I use it with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10 production suite and it works just fine.
    I’m not a musician, just a novice.
Whether you are a novice or a musician, I’m sure you will love this program.
Ridiculous value for money – honestly.
I hope this review can help out a little bit.
    Regards Dex.
P.S. I had problems downloading from Sony once, however my Customer Support Request was answered immediately and the problem was resolved in just a few hours.

I purchased this from the sony website two weeks ago, the 2 largest 1GB loop folders wouldn’t download; I contacted customer service via email no answer.. so they have my 65 dollars and i have an unusable software.. shame on Sony

  6. Estrada Says:

The Digital CD Recording Studio 2.0 was one of the best systems I’ve ever used for burning. Their instruction manual was informative while not being boring. Their customer help was also nice. This system makes burning a breeze while still not being over priced. I would recomend this to anyone that wanted a great CD burner.

  7. Ballin Says:

This is a lot more powerful then easy cd creator, which came on my compaq. I can do almost anything I want to the .wav file I want, except actually take data out of the wave file. For that, I found a shareware program on CNET, SoundGadget. Occasionally I run across a cd that this won’t copy, and I use easy cd creator, which does copy it. There is a very good label printing program included.

  8. Balding Says:

This is the worst product I can ever recall purchasing (and I am not limiting myself to computer related purchases).

I have a 650 Mhz Pentium 3-based laptop and I have never seen software do to a computer what this did to mine. It continually crashed my system again…and again…and again. Each time I had to let my laptop’s battery completely discharge. Then I would reboot the system before I could gain any measure of control over it. Why did I keep trying? I guess I must like pain; I didn’t realize it until now, but I must.END

  9. Morton Says:

PROs: Comes with a good USB-to-midi cable and the basic drivers. You can record from you midi instrument (keyboard, etc) and playback through the instrument OK, and you can see and edit the midi info.
CONs: The software is not very intuitive and I frequently find the user interface very frustrating. Although you can generate a score, you can’t edit it directly – you can’t edit the notation, add lyrics, or make adjustments of any kind.
RECOMMENDATION: Buy the Yamaha UX16 USB-midi cable and one of the basic music notation programs like Finale PrintMusic or Cakewalk MusicCreator.

  10. Marsh Says:

I basically bouthe the product for the cables which work fine. I have similar software but loaded the Music Studio Kit for grins. Right away I received a Microsoft compatability warning. After playing around a bit I finally got it loaded. You have to know what you’re doing for this product to provide satisfaction. I was able to get most of the functions to work although response time was slow. As I said…the cables work fine.

  11. Mendel Says:

PRoduct is OK ! Hardware/Driver works without a problem but software is not clear for usage. Some improvement would be appreciated.

  12. Agajanian Says:

The software was easy to install under WINXP SP2 Multi Media Ed. 5. I haven’t completely explored it yet, but for beginning and intermediate aspiring home studio experimenters, who want to learn something about the way music works, it looks like a powerful enough tool. The degree of control over MIDI parameters and the user interface are impressive. I have it communicating with a basic Yamaha YPT-300 keyboard. Remember, the cost of the supplied MIDI/USB cable is about worth the cost of the package. I am very satisfied.
