I overlooked these for a long time. I got the Denon 1000’s under the impression that they played mp3 discs but that turned out to be a misunderstanding. I didn’t want to spend CDJ 1000 money so I went to get what I thought was the next level down, the 800’s. That’s when another DJ suggested I give the 400’s a shot. USB port for a flash drive (not on the 800’s) effects like a flanger (jet), wah and transform and the seldom used but available bubble scratch (also not on the 800’s), all in a smaller package for less money. In the past I’ve had laptops fail and external hard drives crash on me. Now I play all of my music from flash drives and play every weekend with no problem.I am an industry veteran and I’d tell anyone in the market for a media player to check these out. Sure you could spend
