Most readers of this book will be volunteer “sound guys”, like myself, that are interested in doing a good job. We really need to perform our duties in a professional manner, personal and technical. Unfortunately attending classes just for audio engineering is very expensive. This book provides clear consise information to assist us in becoming better sound technicians. I would highly recommend reading/studying this book. Bill Gibson just does a great job in explaining the how’s and why’s so that you will have a good understanding of what it takes to become a better “sound guy”.
I’m building a home recording studio. What comptuer and software is the best to purchase?
I’m a singer/songwriter and I’ve always recorded professionally with other producers. I write my own lyrics and they’ve made the tracks and then I’ve just applied my words to them. I’ve become interested Building A Recording Studio lately in learning how to produce my own music by making tracks from scratch and start up my own studio. I’ve heard so many different opinions on what computer (Mac or PC) and what software (Pro tools, Logic, Cakewalk, etc.) to buy. Everyone seems to have their own prefrences. How do I go about finding what a good prefrence for myself might be without buying everything?! I don’t know if genre of music helps in figuring out but I sing pop/r&b. Which option will provide good options for making tracks from scratch with no live instruments, make nice vocals, and mix well?
